Privacy policy
HakolPrompter is a teleprompter app for macOS and Windows made by Hakol Sound ("we"). This policy explains what the app does with your data, and in particular with data from your Google account when you sign in with Google.
In short
- HakolPrompter runs on your computer. We run no servers that receive your scripts, documents or account data, and the app has no analytics or tracking.
- With Google, the app can see only the documents you pick and the show copy it creates, nothing else in your Drive.
- We never sell your data, show you ads, or use your data to train AI models.
Google user data
When you sign in with Google, HakolPrompter asks for these permissions:
-
See, edit, create and delete only the specific Google Drive files you use with this app (
drive.file). This covers documents you choose yourself in Google's file picker, and the show copy of a script the app creates for you. The app cannot list or open any other file in your Drive. - Your email address (
openid,email), shown in the app so you can see which account is signed in.
The app uses this access only to:
- read the text, formatting and comments of the documents you chose, to show them on the prompter and to notice when they change;
- create a show copy of a script in your Drive, and write into it the changes you accept and the edits you make, when you choose a mode that does so;
- add comments to the original document with your edits, only when you choose to send them;
- share the show copy with someone, only when you enter their address and ask the app to.
HakolPrompter's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is used only to provide the features above, which you see and control in the app. It is not transferred to anyone else, not used for advertising, and not read by people at Hakol Sound unless you send it to us yourself (for example, a script attached to a support email).
Where your data is kept
- Sign-in: the Google sign-in token is stored on your computer, encrypted by the operating system (the macOS Keychain, or Windows' data protection). It is not sent anywhere but Google.
- Scripts: scripts, including the text of a Google Doc you follow, are saved as files on your computer, where you put them.
- Logs: the app keeps a technical log on your computer, to help fix problems. It stays there unless you send it to us.
Other connections the app makes
- Updates: the app checks GitHub for new versions. GitHub sees a standard web request from your computer (its address and the app version).
- Screens on your network: if you turn on browser or NDI output, the app shows the prompter to devices on your local network that connect to it. That traffic stays on your network.
- Google Docs shared by link: if you open a document by its link without signing in, the app reads Google's public copy of that document.
Your choices
- Sign out in the app's settings. This removes the token from your computer and revokes the app's access.
- You can also remove HakolPrompter's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Delete the script files on your computer to remove the copies of your documents. Show copies in your Drive are yours to keep or delete like any file.
Children
HakolPrompter is a professional tool and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
